National Foundation
Alpha PhiIn 1956, Alpha Phi was one of the first women’s fraternities to establish their own Foundation. Demonstrating the philanthropic spirit of love and charity intended by our Founders, the Foundation was created as a trust to award grants specifically for scholarship and cardiac aid. Today, the original priorities of Alpha Phi Foundation remain. The Foundation’s mission is "advancing women's lives through the power of philanthropy".
Alpha Phi has focused on heart disease and cardiac care as a philanthropic priority. The Foundation supports programs and research that study heart disease in women – specifically its symptoms, its treatment and its prevention. More women than men die of heart disease each year. Today, heart disease kills one in three women. It is the leading cause of death of American women and kills more women age 65 years and older than all cancers combined.
The Foundation also supports other vital programs right within our organization such as the Forget Me Not Fund, which provides assistance to alumnae who are facing severe financial distress, serious health issues, the consequences of natural disasters and urgent family crisis, and to collegians who face an interruption of education due to unforeseen personal or financial struggles.
The Foundation also devotes a large portion of its funds to supporting leadership training and education programs, as well as a scholarship program for all initiated members.
Chapter Philanthropy
Alpha PhiOur chapter has recently extended our Heart Health Week into the entire month of February to raise more awareness for cardiac care and research. Several events are planned throughout the month to raise funds for cardiac research. We host men & women's basketball games, hand out cardiac care facts while selling red dress pins in the DSU, host a blood drive with the Red Cross, and held an annual “Move Your Phi't” zumba class. We end the month with our King of Hearts male pageant. February was busy for all Alpha Phi's, but it was so rewarding for both our beloved philanthropy and our sisterhood. Each year, Theta Phi raises over $20k for cardiac care research and the Alpha Phi Foundation.
The Theta Phi chapter is proud to support the Foundation by raising funds through our own philanthropic events.
Red Dress Gala
When it comes to the style of an Alpha Phi, it's all about the red dress! The annual Red Dress Gala is hosted during family weekend at CNU and includes a reception, dinner, and silent auction at an elegant venue. All Alpha Phis wear red dresses in honor of our cause.
100% of the proceeds are donated to Women's Heart Health in hopes of advancing research and fighting heart disease. For us, this special occasion allows us to share our philanthropic vision with family and friends and alumnae.
King of Hearts
King of Hearts is an annual event held every Spring semester. In this all male pageant, men from CNU compete in various segments such as a talent and question round to be named Alpha Phi’s King of Hearts.
Congratulations to Luke Vaughn, our King of Hearts 2016!!
Mac N' Phis
What could be better than an event where eating mac and cheese benefits women's heart health? Mac N' Phis is a new annual event hosted in the Alpha Phi mansion where you can try a variety of different recipes for this classic comfort food!
